The most important part of our education is you,

THE CUSTOMER

Without you, we can never fully gain the experience needed for us to have a successful career. You help us to become salon professinals, not just someone that can cut hair. For that, we thank you greatly. Our goal is to please every client that enters our academy. We are students learning a new career. If we take a little longer than normal or don't get your desire quite right the first time, we hope you understand we are here to learn and we will make it right. We strive to make you 100% satisfied with your service and always look for ways to improve. If you see something you think would help us to achieve the satisfaction you deserve, let us know. We love learning how to be the best.

Thank you from all of us.

About Our School

It has been our goal to bring a school program to our area that goes beyond just preparing a student to pass the state board test. We have a deep personal commitment to creating the very best salon professional. We don't just focus on good haircutting techniques. We teach how to be a service provider. There is a whole world of opportunity in this creative, self fulfilling industry. Call us or come by to see what we have to offer.

History

Shear Academy was licensed in 1999 and opened its door October of that year.  It was opened by Jim G. Everett and, his daughter, Rene Dykes. After years of service providing people with a great education, Jim decided to retire. In January of 2009 he sold the school to Hurd Educational Enterprises Inc. Since the school changed hands there have been alot of changes. We have been adding plenty of extra education. Redken is  in the school about every three months to give us additional education that is coming staight out of New York. You also get hands on demonstrations direct from OPI Products top educators. You will have the opportunity to achieve higher standards and stonger qualifications than some working stylists out there today. We take your education very seriously at Shear Academy and we think you will too.

Accreditation

Shear Academy is accredited by National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS)

Facilities

The Academy has over 2,100 square feet.  The school includes a theory classroom, a large training room with 15 stations, 6 sinks, manicure tables, waiting room, two bathrooms and administrative office.  All facilities are handicap accessible.

Our Professionals

My name is Cheryl Hornsby. I am the Director/Office Manager/Financial Aid Administrator for Shear Academy. I have been an employee since March 2005. I have been a licensed Cosmetologist. I served 4 years in the Air Force. I have worked as an OfficeManager. I really enjoy my work at Shear Academy and although I am no longer a licensed Cosmetologist, I still enjoy all the aspects of the business.I make my home in the Daysville community of Cumberland County. I am married to Jeff. I have 3 sons, 1 grandson, and 1 granddaughter. In my spare time I enjoy gardening and camping.

My name is Chanda Brady. I have been an instructor for about 6 years now. I have completed several Redken classes during that time. I recently completed my Redken Master Specialists course. I will soon be training at the Redken exchange. I will continue to further my education to benefit my students and my career as a teacher. I am 24 years old and have been married to Nick for 5 years. I took one year off from teaching and worked in a salon. It was a great experience, but my true passion was to teach. I returned with more hands-on experience and ready to show the students ways to better themselves as stylists.

Hello my name is Leonda Smith. I am the day time instructor here at Shear Academy. I have worked in a Barber Shop as well as a Beauty Salon. I have been an instructor for 2 ½ years. I have worked both full time and part time. While working as a part-time instructor I also worked in a salon. I love sharing my education with others. I also love learning from others. I have taken part in several Redken classes in the past 3 years. I have also taken part in OPI classes, Helix Academy classes and continuing education classes for the State of Tennessee.
